Utah's Own Taste Local Utah & Giveaway Winner!!

It's getting to be the end of summer and I cannot believe that it's already September. It's still been hot in Utah but the mornings have begun to be a bit cooler. To be honest, I love summer but I love fall too and I'm ready to start wearing some of my scarves and vests!

The Utah State Fair started on Thursday and I was invited to attend the Fair by Utah's Own who was putting on a Taste Local Utah event at the fairgrounds. Growing up in Alaska, the state fair was always in August and we would make a trip out to Palmer to go to see the giant vegetables, get a waxed hand, and try to stay dry from the usually pouring rain. I've lived in Utah for about 11 years or so but I have never been to the state fair.

So my mom tagged along with me to the event and we had a great time! The Taste Local Utah event featured 48 businesses that are all Utah's Own members. It was pretty crowded when we got there and you could tell people were enjoying the free samples because who doesn't love free samples of good food!!

Me too!!

One of the favorite things we tasted was Grandma Sandino's Sicilian sauce. It's all natural, gluten free, sodium free, with no MSG. It can be used as a pasta sauce, salad dressing or dipping sauce. I have seen these guys at the downtown Farmer's Market but have never stopped to try it. I'm glad I did because I ended up buying a bottle!

Heber Valley Artisan Cheese was delicious, they have a toasted cheese that was amazing!

Utah Truffles, so yummy!

I loved this hive that Miller's Honey had on display!

Inside the tent

Utah has delicious peaches!

and honey too! We are the Beehive State!

Raw crackers

Have you ever had a Fat Boy? They are made in Utah!

Chocolate Milk

Beehive Cheese Co. was already one of my favorites. There award winning Barely Buzzed is made with lavender and rubbed in coffee.

I've bought these before....quick& easy Rhodes bake and serve bread!

Gluten-Free products

Love Butcher's Bunches gourmet preserves too!

If you've never had Brazilian Cheese Bread, you are missing out! All the flavors are great but I love the garlic and the original!

After all of our food samples, we needed a cleanse so we got a made to order salad at Vivace in downtown SLC!

Thank you to all who entered the OXO giveaway!! It was hearing if you had been to see Julia's kitchen...we all need a DC trip in our futures! The winner is #12 Courtney who is a fellow food blogger and lives in fun San Francisco! Congrats Courtney!
