Cocoa Almond-Banana Shake featuing Almond Breeze Almondmilk Original

However, all opinions are my own.

In my last post, I talked about how much I love almonds. What I forgot to mention, is that I also really like Almond milk. I still drink regular dairy milk but we almost always have almond milk in our fridge or pantry.

It is a great staple to have around and I use it for baking, making lattes, and probably most of all for making smoothies and shakes. Today I had a bit of a sweet tooth and decided to throw together the following shake for a healthy treat!

There are quite a few brands of almond milk out there these days. My favorite seriously is Almond Breeze! They sent me a free carton of their milk to use in a recipe but I truly do prefer this brand! Also, if you have an espresso machine at home this milk foams really well for use in lattes.

COCOA ALMOND-BANANA SHAKE featuring ALMOND BREEZE ALMONDMILK ORIGINAL

1 cup Almond Breeze Almondmilk Original
1 banana
1 tsp vanilla extract
1-2 Tbsp. cocoa powder (depending on how much chocolate flavor you want!)
1 cup of ice cubes

Blend all the ingredients in a blender until smooth!
Makes about 2 servings.

Almonds!! We love them around here....

Disclosure:
~This post is sponsored by Blue Diamond Almonds~
However, all opinions are my own.

Almonds are one of my favorite foods! I love them as a healthy snack, on top of oatmeal or cereal, as almond flour for use in baking, and ground up in marzipan. When I traveled a lot in the dance company back in the day, I almost always would take a container of almonds and dried cranberries with me to snack on.

Now, especially as a new mom who is still nursing, I again need quick and easy snacks just like convenient recipes. Luckily, there is a great company out there called Blue Diamond Almonds, who just released their BRAND NEW: Sriracha flavored almonds.
I have bought Blue Diamond products for a long time and they are the world's largest almond processing and almond marketing company. Plus, they are headquartered in Sacramento, where we lived for a few years! They recently sent me these Sriracha almonds to try and man, they are tasty!! The flavor is bold and I was a little worried they would be too spicy. Fear not my friends, they have the perfect amount of quick and these will have you licking your fingers!

To be honest, I haven't jumped on the whole Sriracha fad that has been going around. In fact, I've never even tasted it. However, after really enjoying the flavor on these almonds, I'm going to have to get a bottle of that popular red chili garlic sauce.

I decided to use some of the almonds for dinner last night and roasted some broccolini topped of by the sweet and spicy sriracha almonds! Here's the recipe:

Roasted Broccolini with Blue Diamond Sriracha Almonds

Place broccolini in a freezer size plastic bag. Add 1-2 Tbsp of olive oil to the bag and coat them well. Salt & pepper the broccolini to taste. Place on a sheet pan and roast the broccolini at 425 for 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, whisk together a vinaigrette of:
4 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp Sriracha (or Tabasco, which is what I had)
2 tsp soy sauce
2 Tbsp rice wine vinegar
1 tsp sugar
1 Tbsp lime juice

Remove the broccolini from the oven and place on a plate or platter. Pour the vinaigrette over the broccolini. Top with the 2-3 Tbsp of the chopped Blue Diamond Sriracha Almonds.
Enjoy!!

Blend 2015 Recap Day #3

I'm back! Here is a recap of the last day of the Blend Retreat:

Sunday
This morning started off with one of my favorites, a lovely yoga class sponsored by Bhakti Chai. They also were the ones who provided us the yoga mat from Gaiam that was in our swag bag! The yoga mat was their moisture wicking Sol Dry Grip mat. It values at about $69, making this one of the nicest mats I've ever had! What a wonderful experience to take a yoga class outside, on a beautiful morning, and with an amazing view of the Flatirons in the distance.

When yoga was finished, we headed to another yummy breakfast that was sponsored by Barbara's, Epic Seed, Baobab, and GoodBelly

Breakfast!
After breakfast, we cleaned up our cabin, checked out, and headed to the closing ceremony which was sponsored by NestFresh Eggs. I often buy NestFresh Eggs because they are always 100% Cage Free. The closing ceremony also included a fantastic raffle where everyone won something, how great is that!

The sponsors for Blend were amazing and there is proof in the swag bag below:

Brenna thought it was pretty amazing too!

At the raffle I won some Quinn Popcorn samples! If you haven't heard of them, you must check them out! The Kale seasoned popcorn is really yummy and I can't wait to try the 2 flavors of the microwave bags I received.

All in all, I'm glad I attended this event. It was really well put together and it was nice that it was a smaller group of bloggers. It was definitely different for me because I brought my husband and baby, so I wasn't as social as I could have been otherwise. However, I'm totally okay with that because that is the wonderful place I'm in at my life right now. I'm so glad I waited until my 30's to have kids. The maturity of this age means that I don't let trivial things bother me like they might have in younger years. Plus, lately the struggle of meeting "mommy" friends (which is much harder than I thought it would be) made me appreciate my family and the friends I do have (even though they are spread our across the country) even more.

It was fantastic meeting the company reps. of many of the sponsors. I really enjoy learning about new products as well as how companies market etc. If I hadn't followed my passion and majored in Dance in college, maybe I would have studied marketing. I find it pretty fascinating!

I was able to connect with some of the reps and I'm excited to introduce you all to some of their products in upcoming posts. I have some great giveaways to tell you about too, so stay tuned!!

Betsy
